Sinopse
To mark the Portuguese premiere of Shimizu Tardio (see p. 3), we have embarked on this journey through the cinema of the Far East, beginning specifically with Japanese cinema – from the classics to the present day, to which we have added two external perspectives, by João Mário Grilo and Wim Wenders – and by contemporary South Korean cinema – which has enjoyed great success in recent years, winning numerous awards at major film festivals and an Oscar for Best International Feature Film, and is one of the most prolific in the world. Interestingly, Drive My Car, winner of the Oscar for Best International Feature Film in 2022, by today’s most important Japanese filmmaker, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, travels between the two countries. — Medeia Filmes
